The Westside District
Municipality, British Columbia, Canada was
incorporated on December 6, 2007, making it one of
BC's newest municipalities.
The District has a population of 28,793 and covers a
land area of approximately 12,140 hectares located
on the west side of Okanagan Lake.
January 30, 2008
The Province of BC officially confirmed the name of the
municipality as the
District of West Kelowna.
Just across the William
R. Bennett bridge from Kelowna and all the way to
what used to be called Glenrosa to the south, you'll
find the newly named neighborhoods that comprise
West Kelowna.
Westbank, Casa Loma,
Lakeview Heights, West Kelowna Estates, Shannon
Lake, Rose Valley and Glenrosa are now all a part of
West Kelowna.
West Kelowna is one
sprawling, scenic area of the Okanagan Valley,
currently governed by Mayor Doug Findlater and
council.
